What will I do if my parents die?

This question was presented to me by Lim Wei Qi, the birthday girl today.

The answer I gave her was that I'll probably die as well. But deep inside I really don't know what I'll do.

You see, I've never encountered any direct family deaths in my whole life. My family members are alive and kicking, but I know that they will leave me someday.

If my parents really die, I really might blame God for what happen. I've never really had a very strong belief in God, but I do believe in karma and reincarnation.

Anyway if my parents really die, the first thing I'll do is hug the both of them. I'll probably cry for hours pondering the loss of my parents and my emotions will run riot I'm sure.

The most important person to me is my mother. And if I really lose her, I think life's going to be a nightmare.

I can't go on typing. I really can't..

If you're looking for polytechnic courses..

Singapore is a pretty small country, though not the smallest in the world. So if you're talking about pursuing some unique dreams and goals like being an archaeologist, please look beyond the shores of Singapore.

Singapore's polytechnics and universities are almost all industry-relevant, which meant one thing. You're highly likely to find jobs in your respective industry.

One of the things that I always disagree with some people is that they always try to look for good prospects in polytechnics.

A high number of them believe that business courses have the highest prospects.

I beg to differ.

The fact that each diploma course is being tailor-made shows that the industry needs such people, and that it will be lucrative. Each and every industry has their own prospects, and it also depends on how well are you willing to work hard and put in effort.

I still believe in my own thinking; Do a diploma course that interests you. And not just find a diploma course that you think have a good prospect. Can you imagine doing boring work just for the sake of money? What's the point of life?

I myself failed to get into Mass Communications, so I had to go to Visual Communications, the next qualifying course that interests me. I intend to go overseas and study marine-related studies if possible after I graduate.

The same goes for people who are unhappy in their courses. Persevere for the 3 years and take another path from there.

Lastly, for those who're taking 'O' levels, do work hard. When you work hard, you can choose the junior colleges or diploma courses that you qualify. Because if your grades are bad, you can only take the less popular ones and the leftovers.

'O' levels results tomorrow.

Tomorrow is the release for the 'O' levels results and I sincerely hope that everyone will do well.
I've prayed for every single one I know taking 'O' levels.

It's natural to be nervous, but have confidence in yourself!

Got worked up over customer service.

I had such a bad day yesterday, thanks to bad customer service.

Before I begin, I must stress that I always consider myself as a non-fussy customer, and that I never blew my top in front of any sales assistants.

I was at Compass Point, with the intention to buy wooden toothpicks for my Typography project. A Watsons sales assistant told me to go to Value Shop, as they probably sold it there.

I went there in the evening, and there were around 6 workers in the shop.

Here's how my conversation and them goes like:

Me: "Hi, I am looking for wooden toothpicks and candles. Do you know where is it?"
Sales Assist (1): "We don't sell candles, but we do sell wooden toothpicks."

And she pointed to me to the back of the shop.

I proceeded over there, and I tried to find it but couldn't. I proceed to ask another worker although he was arranging stocks.

Me:"Hi, the previous worker told me that wooden toothpicks are around this section, do you know where is it?"
Sales Assist (2): "Don't have it in this section, it's in the second row.

I went towards the second row. And I still couldn't find it. So I asked another one beside me again.

Me: "Can you show me where can I find toothpicks?"
Sales Assist (3): "It's beside over that rack."

I went but I still couldn't find it. I was really irritated. I went back to the same one, and my tone was louder.

Me: "CAN YOU BRING ME TO THE PLACE WHERE I CAN FIND THEM?"
Sales Assist (3): "I think it's out of stock."
Me: "...................."

I can't believe I forced myself not to blow my top and walk out of the shop nonchalantly.

Wow, it's the first time that I heard that TOOTHPICKS CAN BE OUT OF STOCK." Not enough wood to produce toothpicks or what?

Can you people even call yourselves sales assistants? Look up the dictionary for the word: ASSIST. You assholes made me move around in the shop like an idiot, and NOT A SINGLE ONE could show me the place where toothpicks are placed.

Yes, you might be busy doing stocks, but aren't the customer's needs the most important? And that assistant who told me it's out of stock without checking for me, it's high time you quit your job.

It's for your interest in heart that you should just work at an office or other places where you don't constantly do human interaction.

I've never seen such terrible customer service, and I really cannot believe I blogged such a long post over toothpicks. How great.

Updates will be slow.

Computer failed on me, so it will take days to repair it.

I've got so many topics to blog about, but might not have enough time.

More than 10 assignments including tests, with 2 weeks or so left. I wonder how I can finish all?

Photoshoot!

Damn it! Should I know that there's going to be a photoshoot by Barnabas (Photography Lecturer), I would have worn nicer shirts and style my hair. After all, I could have present the best of myself and put it in my blog right?

Anyway, I was the model, and Aliff was the photographer, so I was required to do some poses and expressions for him.

Posing as a cool person.
This turns out to be smiling, although Aliff asked me to be angry.
How about this? Enough anger?
Sad, but it seems as if I'm having a constipation.
Don't cry for me, Argentina!
Thanks Aliff for the photoshoot! Less than 2 weeks left before school term breaks again, and I'm going to be SO BUSY with the final projects!

Links..

I've finally finished the links section because the previous one was screwed up. If you have a blog and if I unintentionally didn't link you, please write your name and your blog address on the comment below or on my tagboard.

I'm still trying to find out whom I haven't add yet!

Really busy for these few weeks and I can't wait for the 2 months break!

Shall end this short post for now...

Thank you, Mr Malvin Lim.

It's been almost a year, and I've yet to thank someone. Someone who rightfully deserves a mentioning of this post.

Mr Malvin Lim, a passionate teacher who came to the class of 3N2. We were the first class he taught if my mind serves me right. From a class which comprises of students whose English are incorrigible, he improved the whole lot.

He continued with his teaching techniques and lessons which most of us improved. During the 'N' levels, we did really well. And during the 'O' levels, it was good.

One of the best things that he have done was the peer teaching, which I really like it alot. His dedication, passion and the belief in us really paid off.

Thank you Mr Malvin Lim for all the work that you've done, and polished my language really well.

Although you have left the teaching sector, I'm sure we will meet up soon with the other mates and catch up with each other.

I wish you all the best for your future endeavours and hope you find fulfillment and enjoyment in your new job.

Thank you.

Nanyang Polytechnic Open House..

Had to be on duty today for the School of Design, and we have to give information to students and parents who came for the open house..

Very busy and a good experience I must say..

There were so many people around! And for those who are taking their 'O' level result soon, I would really advise you to go to the various polytechnics' open houses, as it is important to know about your preferred course and talk to lecturers.

If anyone's interested, Nanyang Polytechnic Open House is until this Saturday, and probably lasts till 5-6pm.

New changes..

How's the newly revamped template? I really like the picture taken by some of my classmates, and it looks good.

Only a handful knows about this picture though. I guess it came as a surprise for the rest of you people.

Some people have asked if they can still tag my tagboard. Well, there's still something wrong with the right bar, and hopefully it can be fixed as soon as possible. There's bound to be little changes here and there.

Still, you can comment just below the post!

Anyway, I have this intention to use dot com, and I'll add on even more stuff to my personal website. In fact, I have already started writing some of the content.

Rest in peace, M.C King..

A local celebrity has died suddenly, and his untimely death really shook me.

I don't want to talk much about it, and I hope he rests in peace.

(Jimmy Nah, who died at the age of 40.)

Thank you for your performances that really entertained us, and we will not forget you with the years to come.

Divers Gathering for Pulau Tioman.

Jennifer and I organised a divers gathering last week, and it became quite successful except a one or two didn't turn up.

It was certainly around 2 months since I've seen some of them, and it's really great to see Dean, Yvvonne and Jennifer around.

There were 2 extra people:

1.Tristan who's an experienced photographer who travelled around Asia.
2. Leslie, who's a manager for Asian Geographic Magazine.

Yvvonne was entertaining us about her experiences in diving, while Dean, Jennifer and others had some serious talk.

I was intending to talk to Leslie, because I was thinking of becoming a freelance writer, and I was willing to work for it. I couldn't open the conversation, and sweet Jennifer decided to break the ice for us, and we started off there.

I enjoyed interacting, as I learned about his past experiences, and what advice he had in store for me.

He told me to write for local magazines, because it is good to start on an experience and work from there. Hmm, I'm still thinking how could I write for local magazines. Teenage magazine perhaps?

Hopefully when the opportunity arrives, I'll be able to meet some of his colleagues who are graphic designers.

What amazes me is that he used to study a totally unrelated diploma course, in comparison to his job right now.

Oh, I must talk about Dean.

Dean was trying to pull me off to some chinese ladies near some pub, and I shrugged it off and tell him that I prefer caucasian girls in general.

He opened his eyes wide and said caucasian girls are not good, and said asian ones are better. Super ironic eh? I guess it's like that. Caucasians prefer Asians, while Asians prefer Caucasians.

That idiot also called me Pork Chop, and further on hugging me and squeezed me, with a wicked smile. He's really sick. It's time he need a psychiatrist. Hahaha!

Most importantly, I must thank Jennifer for the magazine that you gave some of us, and thanks for the kind hospitality. What a sweet lady. We'll meet again soon alright!
