Mas Selamat the terrorist on the run.

For those of you who didn't know about this news, Mas Selamat managed to escape from the detention centre and now he's on the run. Apparently, he managed to escape when he was in the restroom. Dramatic eh?

What is the severity of this problem is that he was a leader of the Jemaah Islamiah (JI) militant network and has planned to hijack a plane and crash it to Changi Airport.

The Singapore Government has apologised, but it has ruffled some feathers among Singaporeans.

Why is it that the heavily guarded place could lose someone so important?

Now that Mas Selamat is ON THE RUN, there is a good chance that he might try to take revenge and bomb places in Singapore. He's currently unarmed, and walks in a limp, but you'll never know about what his hidden agenda is. If he's never caught, we'll never have peace.

So please, if you have seen anyone that looks like this man, please dial 999 IMMEDIATELY:

Try not to go out late at night, or go to crowded places..

bwL HIP 2008.

Last week, I invited Jeremy to go to this particular event called HIP 2008 with me. Initially, I thought it was JJ Lin's concert. In case anyone didn't know, JJ Lin is Singapore's local pop singer whom has enjoyed success around the region.

Jeremy and I.

bwL is a listed company which is involved in the health and wellness industry, and has presence internationally.

I got the tickets free from my mother's colleague, and I thought that since the tickets were free, it probably were some seats located further back.

The information looked like JJ Lin's concert.

I was dead wrong. Once Jeremy and I went into the Suntec Convention Hall 602, we were ushered to the very first row of the 3500 strong of seats when they looked at our tickets. In front of us were directors of bwL, and we were in the VIP area! The event is filled with people all around the world.

People were starting to come in.

We were so close to the stage, that the distance was only like 5 metres.

Awardees taking pictures..

The awardees of bwL onstage with the founders.

I also saw Triston, who was one of the official photographers for the event. We were surprised to see each other.

And so the entertainment begins!

The opening was this guy doing some lip-syncing with his dancers..

Another dance group..

Along the way, they gave out awards to million dollar achievers, and some stretched up to $50 million!

Anyway...

This performance by these performers were one of the best, and they could change masks in a split second.

And now for the much-hyped JJ Lin's performances! He sang more than 6 songs, some of them includes Jiang Nan, Sarang Haeyo, Westside, and The Mummy. I must say I'm really proud of this homegrown singer, and he sang live REALLY WELL!

He sings..

He dances..

And he flips!

How bout singing with a light sabre that looked like it came from Star Wars?

Playing the piano while singing.

The ending part..

JJ Lin shaking hands with us..

I must say that overall the event is great, because they used suitable songs for every performance, and I've learned some things and broadened my perspective of things. I never regret attending such an event.

I've recorded some videos of JJ Lin performing some of his songs and the magic mask performance. I'll upload them here soon!

Celebrating Jerry's birthday.

Jerry's birthday was held somewhere near Costa Sands resort, and we had a simple barbeque session.

Friends gathering and have a hearty chat.

It was barbeque at first, and after that, the inevitable birthday bash followed soon..

Poor boy, he got attacked by nearly everyone.

Surprisingly for his anorexic size, he managed to retaliate fast enough and defended to beat the odds.

Enough of the birthday bash, let's go on to the birthday cake.

Someone bought a Tom & Jerry cake for him, which I thought was rather thoughtful, because it related to his name.

The cake was rather beautiful.

It was a pity that we couldn't enjoy the cake and had a proper procedure of celebrating Jerry's birthday, because the mischievous acts of throwing the cake here and there to others destroyed the cake.

I guess it was inevitable..

There were alot of other pranks played on others, but I think I shall not elaborate further. Still, before I end this post, I would like to wish Jerry a very happy 19th birthday!

May you be blessed with happiness!

Do we ever learn from wars?

Whenever we see animals killing their own kind, or being cannibalistic, we feel disgusted by their actions. Have we thought that we are no different from animals?

Mankind is the most intelligent life-form ever created in Earth, yet we are the most selfish, self-centred species of all animals. Why is it that in the modern era, humans are killing one another?

The bottom line is, DO WE EVER LEARN?

WAR AND VIOLENCE

Everyone knows that war and violence needs to be prevented from happening. We've been through World War 1, and World War 2. And we have learned about the disastrous consequences of war.

Did Mankind finally learn our mistakes from the millions of people who died from past wars?

No. Take a look at the Iraq War.

It has caused hundreds of thousands of deaths, and it will continue to rise.

How about the Darfur conflict? Innocent people are being killed, and more than 200,000 people has died since 2003.

Image taken from supportdarfur.com

Women are being raped as and when, and mass murder is everywhere. Can we save these people and Darfur?

The 2 events that I've listed are still ongoing, and we have no idea when will it end. There are other wars that are still happening in the world, but they're not greatly publicised by the media.

Yes, I might only be an ignorant civilian who knows nothing about the complicated events that happened before the wars. But I wished the world could be a better place.

Poverty still exists, droughts still remain, global warming is happening, deforestation is increasing, and extinction of animals are inevitable.

The Earth is sick, but instead of working hand in hand to tackle Earth's illnesses, here we are, being the intelligent life-form and leaders of the world fails to oversee these problems, and WE RATHER USE OUR POWER TO BE INVOLVED IN CONFLICTS AND WAR, KILLING ONE ANOTHER TO WIN IS OUR PRIORITY.

And I'm 100% sure something will happen in the Year 2012. It's either we die from effects of global warming, or we die from nuclear war which human beings keep developing better technology TO KILL ONE ANOTHER.

Whatever things we do now, WE WILL DIE IN OUR OWN HANDS.

One Million Star Season 3..

Last Saturday when I was at Plaza Singapura celebrating Koon Xian's birthday, we saw this singing competition event, which was called One Million Star Season 3, or more popularly known as Xing Guang Da Dao.

I inititally thought it was a local production, but it was a singing competition from Taiwan, and has spread over to Singapore. Apparently, they were choosing good Singaporean singers to represent Singapore in Taiwan.

The singing competition event.

It was quite an entertaining event, because you get to see contestants singing, and some of them sing really well, while others were expressionless and sang in a monotone. It probably gave Project Superstar a run for their money.

A contestant singing.

Ahh, too bad I didn't know about this contest earlier, if not I might even join!

Rest in peace, Lydia Sum...

The entertainment industry lost one of Asia's best comediennes, Lydia Sum. I always like to watch her comedies and shows and her contagious laughter always never fail to make me laughing at myself upon hearing her laughter.

I was saddened by the news, because I have always hope that her condition will change for the better.

She died at 8.30 this morning at the age of 60, after a long battle with cancer. May God bless her.

REST IN PEACE, LYDIA SUM

Fei Fei, all of us will miss you...

Going on to Year 2..

The second semester has finished, and I'm most likely promoted to second year of my tertiary education.

At first glance, I didn't thought I could make it. My drawing and painting skills were incorrigible. It was very difficult for me. Concerned people asked how I was faring, and I said nothing positive.

I got a terrible GPA score of 2.1, but I'm sure it will improve this year.

In my first year, I've seen a fair share of ugly and good personalities. My class, which is made up of students from all walks of life, is very interesting. I appreciate each and everyone, but I've changed.

I became cynical. I had this level of cynicism and I don't know why I felt this way. Must classmates be classmates? Can we be friends? Or are we just like animals in the jungle waiting to slice each other's throat for food in the future?

Competitiveness is part of human nature, but why does it play such a big part? It exposes the ugly side of Mankind, showing what Mankind is capable of doing in order to win.

I'm not referring to anyone, and I don't bear any grudges with any of my classmates. I just had this cynical mindset in me. I feel insecure. And I'm still trying to change. And as I proceed to Year 2, I hope I can bond with even more classmates, and understand them better.

As Year 2 approaches in around 2 months time, I hope I have better time management, and do better in the endless assignments.

Happy Valentine's Day.

Some people tell me that Valentine's Day can be celebrated at any other days. I disagree, because Valentine's day is a day where every couple in the world celebrate Valentine's Day. It's a day where we celebrate the beauty of love.

I decided not to go out with my friends tonight, because I just didn't have the mood. On a selfish part, I wanted this night to get over and done with.

Coincidentally, Valentine's Day is also the death anniversary of my paternal grandfather, so I went to pay him respects in my grandma's house.

So this year, I decided to spend this Valentine's Day alone, and I hope my ideal girl will show up someday. I'm still devoted to Selina though:

Before I end this post, I like to wish everyone a Happy Valentine's Day and may everyone be in love!

Fantastic Four.

If my mind serves me right, I've never posted any of my works in my blog except for the very first assignment in the first semester.

Why? Because of this Fantastic Four reasons:

1. I rarely receive compliments from lecturers and friends.
2. I've got no confidence in my works.
3. I figured out putting my works in my blog are rather boring.
4. I think my works are inferior compared to others.

But for now, I'm proud of this particular work because I put in around 17 hours of excruciating hard work and effort.

So I'm going to put this final project up from Mr Ransome's module here for my own aesthetical (if there's such a word) purposes. I hope I get at least a C+ or B grade for this final project, so that my final grade for this module will get at least a C.

Here it is:

Theme: Fantastic Four

Medium: Copic Markers on Illustration Board.

How to do it: Trace the A2 image using tracing paper, touch up mainly using markers. Use copic markers to decorate.

The background is mainly white, because the terrible resolution of the A2 image makes it impossible to see it, and I don't have the time and money (don't talk about red packet money) to buy extra copic markers which are exorbitantly-priced at $5.50 each. Plus I figured out white still looks good eh?

I'm proud of this work. I really am.

2008 Chinese New Year Celebrations..

I love Chinese New Year, because it is the most important day of the Chinese Calendar and we celebrate it annually. This year's visit to my relatives' and neighbours house had to cut short for me, while my family members visit them because of those dreaded projects.

Still I had fun over the past 2 days of Chinese New Year. Visits to relatives' house across the East of Singapore, and gobbling of Chinese New Year food such as pineapple tarts, barbequed pork, egg rolls and many more! Getting red packets was the best thing, and with the addition of the annual gambling of blackjack, it never gets old. Really.

I love the reunion dinner with my paternal and maternal side of family. Didn't take many pictures this year with them though.

Those who know me knows that I am your average joe who wears a T-Shirt and jeans almost everyday. It goes the same for Chinese New Year as well. But this year, I decided to experiment with different types of clothes and look. Nearly all my clothes are from a single brand though..

First day of Chinese New Year..

Hood, Striped-Shirt and Slim-Fit jeans..

I look very stern..

Second day of Chinese New Year..

Red shirt with black male cardigan.

Took this while resting.

I think I look like a total different person with this kind of clothing.

Enough of my dressing.

I'm going to talk about my cute cousin..

KAYLEY!

Ever chubby and cute Kayley.

I think Kayley is such a beautiful name and suits her well.

My mom and Kayley..

Grandma and Kayley.. Awww.. she's crying.

Grandpa and Kayley..

My brother and Kayley.

Me, Uncle Ken and her daughter Kayley.

I never dare to carry Kayley because I have a phobia of carrying babies. Anyway, I'm sure she will turn out to be a very fine and beautiful lady when she grows up! I'm going to spoil her with lots of soft toys!

Anyway, here are some photos with my cousins:

Ningning and me..

Xiu Mei sis and me..

Shawn and me..

The whole group photo of cousins.

I'm blessed with good-looking, intelligent and mild-mannered cousins.

I wish that all my family members are blessed in good health in the Year of the Rat!

Happy Lunar New Year to everyone!

It's Chinese New Year and the year of the Rat. I will be really busy this week, so I would like to wish everyone here....

and lastly, I hope everyone will get what they wish for, and to be happy and healthy!

Once again, Happy Lunar New Year to everyone!

I've to complain again...

The thought of finishing my 3 final projects within Chinese New Year holidays is a MAJOR TURN-OFF to my mood, and I have no idea how to finish them, especially my illustration board which I'll be doing Fantastic Four mainly using Copic Markers. This is going to be the biggest assignment that I'll ever do, and hopefully it will be my best masterpiece.

Copic Markers are the most expensive things you'll probably buy, and just on markers itself I've spent over $100 on it. I better get a good grade for this.

Can someone tell me how to finish my work?

Wednesday: Reunion Dinner
Thursday: 1st day of Chinese New Year and celebrate.
Friday: Celebrate again.
Saturday: Go to some distant-relatives house.
Sunday: Some neighbours house.

Pushing the deadline till Monday is one of the worst things ever being done. I'm 100% sure I cannot fully enjoy the celebration, because at the back of my mind reminds me that I have 3 projects undone and I don't know how to squeeze time for the projects.

When you're in the mood for a festive celebration ONCE IN A YEAR, will you have the mood to even do your projects?

Sigh, enough of my grumble. Grrrr.

Will Doomsday be on 21 December 2012?

There have been many failed predictions of Doomsday. Now they're predicting it to be on 21 December 2012 (21/12/12).

There are the Mayan Calendar, I Ching, Merlin guy, Bible and Web Dot, which all predicted the same date and year.

What makes this interesting is that some of these prophecies accurately predict previous events that happened.

On 21 December 2012, the Earth, Sun and the centre of the Milky Way will be in exact alignment, an event which takes place every 25,800 years.

If the above description intrigues you, you can watch the following videos to learn more about the prophetic date of 21 December 2012.

There goes my Chinese New Year holidays.

A major project's deadline has been postponed right after the Chinese New Year.

How wonderful? Now I probably have to sacrifice most of my ANNUAL PRECIOUS Chinese New Year doing work.

If that major project isn't enough, how about an extra two more projects to hand up on the same date.

THAT'S 3 MAJOR PROJECTS TO HAND UP IN ONE SINGLE DAY.

The thought of it really burst my bubble of having a great festive holiday. Imagine all the lecturers having a great wonderful Chinese New Year while we students worry about our assignments! EVIL!

Anyway, this 2 months break I'm going to work only 5 weeks, and spent the remaining 3 weeks having a well-deserved break, as I'm going to catch up with friends, teachers and family. And this is a promise. I wanted to organise a gathering with Mr Malvin Lim and some of my friends but I just don't have the time. I must catch up with Mr Chin and Mrs Yap as well!

If all goes well, I'm going diving with my friends and dive buddies by the end of March, which I will probably organise all by myself again. It's really tough work, but I feel a sense of achievement after I organise something major.

On a total irrelevant note, Microsoft has made a bid of $44.6 billion to buy over Yahoo! Inc in order to measure up and challenge Google Inc. Microsoft hope that the 2 companies can combine forces to tackle Google.

Regardless of their war, I'm still going to use Google as my internet search engine. Its layout is simple and good. And their search results are incomparable.
