It's "our" fault. (An unbiased opinion.)

Well, a friend of mine was lamenting about how students who qualify for Junior College (JC)decide to go to Polytechnic, and therefore snatches the vacancies of many students who scored average grades and unable to get a place in polytechnic. She's still waiting for an appeal, and blamed people like me.

Come to think of it, on hindsight, it is true. JC qualifiers are flocking to polytechnics to pursue their studies, rather than junior college. Because they enrolled into the courses, the standard is higher, and competition is stiff. Therefore, students scoring average marks are deprived of a place in polytechnic, and they have to either wait for an appeal, go to the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or retake 'O' levels.

Therefore, these students blame JC qualifiers. It's very understandable.

But let's be painfully honest here: Who would expect SO MANY of them coming to polytechnics this year?

Which brings even more questions like:

1. Is there anything wrong with the education system?
2. What makes these people not to choose JC?

Well, that's up to the Ministry of Education to find out.

But back to the topic. People who did well have a choice to choose whether they want to enroll into a Junior College or a Polytechnic. In an unbiased view, it is unfair that they must go to Junior College just because of their results. They have a choice.

Allow me to quote one Sunday Times reader, who gave an analogy: The rich can dine at a restaurant. The poor can only dine at coffeeshops. But the rich can have a choice of whether they want to dine at a restaurant or a coffeeshop.

It is simply the case here.

Please note that I'm not trying to direct anyone here. I'm giving an unbiased opinion here. I hope everyone understands.
